Puppy! Mana, Shoes, Mall, Diaper Changing

This past weekend we went to Emma’s “new” relatives for an early Easter and a birthday party. Emma received big Easter baskets filled with goodies. She also got to play with the tiny little dog that was there! She loves puppies and this little dog was no exception. It is smaller than her cats and wags its tail extremely fast! The only thing that she didn’t get was that this little dog did not like her and wanted to bite her. She got a kick out of the fact that it tried to bite her cheek and her feet. Even 4 days later when I ask her what she did at the party she laughs and says “puppy, …Read more […..]

What the heck is a Hemangioma??

One of the most unimaginable things that can happen is a potentially serious medical diagnosis from your baby’s doctor. I never knew just how true this is until it happened to us. Approximately 2 months after Emma was born we noticed that the tip of her nose was turning a blueish color and getting bigger. At first we thought it was the lighting conditions or our imagination. As the days went by it got worse. The skin was definitely stretching and her nose was getting darker and rounder. We went to the pediatrician who stated that it was probably a hemangioma. A what?!?Although this doctor …Read more […..]

Hotten! Kitty! Granny Walk, Look at Me! Buddy!

We all know that women love chocolate. Heck, I love chocolate! Well, Emma is no exception. Now, we aren’t the kind of people that eat many sweets as it is but we do treat ourselves to some as well as Emma once in a while. She loves M&Ms and anything with chocolate. She has come up with her own name for chocolate, where I have no idea. She calls chocolate Hotten. Yes, she asks for hotten at all times during the day now. I give her Special K breakfast bars in assorted flavors. Her favorite flavor is the chocolate drizzle. She likes to eat the hotten off first. Her favorite treat though, …Read more […..]

The Mall, Pretty, Family & Sacrifice

Today we went to the mall. Emma loves going to the mall to see the water fountains and the decor that hangs from the ceiling. Her newest favorite word is “pretty.” Everything that she likes is pretty and the water fountain is no exception. So are the big butterflies that are hanging from the mall ceiling. Oh, and the Easter Bunny is there too and she went crazy! It started to wave at her and she waved back and started saying, “Emma! Emma!” which meant that she wanted to go by it. I did not dare have her sit on its lap for a picture without Mama being present, however, as Mama had warned …Read more […..]

Mom Out of Town,Ready, Go! Hello, Bye! Dancing Queen, Write to Blog?

Melissa is out of town and Emma finally went to sleep. A looooong day indeed! Am I the only spouse who absolutely hates when the other spouse goes out of town for work?? Emma likes to say, “Ready….go!” Nonnie taught her this and it is very cute! She also likes to pick up her play telephone and say, “Hello” and when I repeat it she then says, “Bye” and hangs up. Too funny!! Her dancing is getting faster now. She spins round and round and round at an even faster pace. I can’t keep up with her for very long as I get dizzy. Nonnie can’t either. LOL. Ths is Why I am So “Paranoid” About Daycare

This is sickening! You just never know about people…. Cary, N.C. — After her twin sons, Gavin and Bryce, were born three months premature, it was difficult for Lindsay Addison to go back to work in January. Having spent months in intensive care, the boys still were not healthy enough to go to day care with their older brother, so Addison posted an ad online for a nanny. After interviewing six candidates, she hired someone she thought she could trust – a nanny who is a mother herself, had a background in child care and had a “glowing recommendation” from someone …Read more […..]

I Can Do It, My Mommie! Mini Waffles, Poppy

Today, Emma turned 2. Where did the time go? Seems like yesterday she was not able to crawl or walk but was scooching around on her but–and boy could she scooch! She got a giant happy face balloon and a giant number 2 balloon. She loves her boons! And, the best was yet to come after dinner. The chocolate(Hatten) cupcakes with the white frosting were the perfect treat for a little princess. She made quite a mess. Whoever coined the term “terrible twos” knew what they were talking about. The little stinker is truly an independent thinker. She wants to do things by herself now and lets us know …Read more […..]

I Can Open Doors! Having fun with Nonnie!

The little cutie pie can open doors now. The baby monitor no longer warns me that she is stirring as she sometimes gets up in stealth mode. I barely hear anything until I hear her at the top of the stairs–Thank goodness for the gates– yelling “Daddy.” Yesterday morning I woke up and opened my eyes to see her bedroom door opening up. I pretended to still be sleeping when she looked at me, yelled “Dada” and ran to my bedside to wake me up. So cute!!! She likes to show off her new ability to open doors. She will close it so she can re-open it. So proud she is. I am buying a hook latch …Read more […..]

The First Day

The first day alone with Emma was one that I will not forget. Up until that time she was doing just fine with Momma being home. She took her naps every 2-3 hours and pretty much just ate and slept. She was a happy baby and would always be smiling and laughing. I think that I was lulled into a false sense of comfort during this time. Little did I know that the Mommy-Daughter bond would be so strong… I think it had lots to do with the fact that she was breastfeeding. Not only was this for her nutritional needs but it was just as important for her emotional needs. Daddy just isn’t …Read more […..]

Go, Hello, Emma Under the Weather, New Family

Us at the “union party” with most of my new family The last couple of days have brought a couple new words. Nonnie had Emma and her cousin Taylor for a couple days. They played some kind of game where the word Go is used. Emma now says “Go” to me. Not sure if she wants me to get out of here but she likes saying it. Today, I got home and Nonnie said to watch Emma. She gave her the pretend phone and Emma put it to her ear and said “Hello”. She showed Mommie when she got home. Too funny! Emma is under the weather with a cold. It is very stressful. Especially when I tried to get her to sleep …Read more […..]
