Birthday Party, Lion Returns, Thoughts on Sitters & Lack Thereof
Yesterday we went to Taylor’s birthday party. It was great because Emma got to not only see her cousin but was able to touch and attempt to hold some bunnies(bundies). I’ve added several pics of her feeding the bunnies hay. She has always loved bunnies, especially the Easter Bunny who she gets to see in person every year! The last week has been a definite challenge for me as I have felt antsy and anxious. I call it the lion in a cage feeling. I am not sure that anyone can relate to this but I have a feeling that Dads that stay at home definitely could. I believe that men are not naturally …Read more […..]
Late Night Dancing Queen! PooPeeDoo!! Party, Party!
Last night we were at a wedding reception and Emma was a dancing machine! She was with all the familiar relatives and was passed around among all the women and girls…. She also picked out some women that she never met to dance with her. She sat with Italian women that spoke very little English and saw her favorite, Jella. We didn’t leave until 12. Since she didn’t eat much–she never eats much at parties– she requested chicken while we were driving. Since McD’s was closed we went to BK and they have chicken fries, Emma’s favorite! She ate on the way home and didn’t get to sleep until 1am. …Read more […..]
Play with Kids! Drive the Orange Car!
Emma has started to really like to play with the kids at the mall. She loves running laps for awhile before crawling through the tunnel, standing on the butterfly, and going in the red boat. Her favorite thing to do is to sit in the yellow car. She likes to steer the wheel and bounce(Bunce) on the seat. She gets along with the kids very well and “Plays nice.”
Lala, Hook, No Water!, New Phrases
The cutie pie has started to like the riding cars at the mall. She has graduated from the merry go round to the big kid toys. Emma’s cousin Lauren (Lala) is here from Florida and has been staying with us for a week. Emma has gotten used to waking Lala up in the morning and now requests to do so. When Lala goes home it will be a change for Emma. We went to Navy Pier and Emma enjoyed people watching and the water. She liked looking at the buildings, boats, and was especially interested in the pirate statues. There is a pirate in the movie Shrek that Emma is interested in. The pirate at …Read more […..]
The New Face of Fatherhood, Mama’s Home,Helicopter!
I was reading the June issue of PARENTS magazine and came across a very interesting article titled The New Face of Fatherhood It is a great article describing the 21st-century father, a guy who proudly wears spit-up on his shoulder as a battle scar, not an embarrassing stain. The article describes how today’s father is much more involved with the care and activities of his children, especially when compared to the fathers of 30 years ago. Though their numbers are small, more guys than ever are scaling back on work or quitting altogether to help raise a family. The fathers of 30 years ago spent …Read more […..]
Horsies, Sleepover with Taylor, The “Scooterâ€, I Can Walk! NC Vacation Pics
The other day i brought Emma to my sister Kimmy’s place to pick up Nonnie. Emma was excited to go there because she knew her cousin Taylor, age 5, would be there. Emma got to see their 9 pet bunnies (buddies) and also the 3 horses that they have on their property. Emma likes riding her little rocking horses and likes to see horses on TV. Boy did she like to see them in person! She even got to pet them! The big Momma horse even did some horse talk for us. Emma got a bonus when my cousin Diane came by with her daughter Adell (Dell). The 3 girls went walking in the mud and went in the stable …Read more […..]
The First Day
The first day alone with Emma was one that I will not forget. Up until that time she was doing just fine with Momma being home. She took her naps every 2-3 hours and pretty much just ate and slept. She was a happy baby and would always be smiling and laughing. I think that I was lulled into a false sense of comfort during this time. Little did I know that the Mommy-Daughter bond would be so strong… I think it had lots to do with the fact that she was breastfeeding. Not only was this for her nutritional needs but it was just as important for her emotional needs. Daddy just isn’t …Read more […..]
Go, Hello, Emma Under the Weather, New Family
Us at the “union party” with most of my new family The last couple of days have brought a couple new words. Nonnie had Emma and her cousin Taylor for a couple days. They played some kind of game where the word Go is used. Emma now says “Go” to me. Not sure if she wants me to get out of here but she likes saying it. Today, I got home and Nonnie said to watch Emma. She gave her the pretend phone and Emma put it to her ear and said “Hello”. She showed Mommie when she got home. Too funny! Emma is under the weather with a cold. It is very stressful. Especially when I tried to get her to sleep …Read more […..]
My first post…Here goes!
First of all, I would like to dedicate this to my beautiful wife and my precious daughter. Both are the love and joys of my life. Without my wife’s support I don’t think I could have made it this far! 🙂 I would like to say that my experience so far, 21 months, has been filled with many joys and challenges. I have learned that everyone should give credit to all the mothers(& fathers) that have, and continue to make the sacrifice and commitment to their children. I have learned that it is probably the hardest and most challenging job in the world..No kidding! The sacrifices that so …Read more […..]
