Preschool Graduation! Mommy is home….Guilt over my short fuse & anxiety
Well, our little Emma has had her 1st graduation! Oh, how time does fly!! 🙂 It seems like I was nervously just dropping her off on her 1st day of preschool and now the year is over. I am so proud of her and how well she is doing. She was very proud of herself too. She was excited–I am sure she didn’t understand what graduation really meant or that she wouldn’t see her friends for a long time and that she will be stuck with her Daddy all summer—but she was excited! There was a very nice ceremony and the kids sang some of their songs. It lasted longer than I thought it would and …Read more […..]
Black Dolphin, Knock Knock-Its a Pleasure To Meet You, Is Mommy Coming Home?
One of Emma’s favorite new toys is something that Melissa brought home from her loooong trip to Orlando for her work convention. Did I say long? More on that later…. Anyway, She brought Emma a killer whale stuffed animal that Emma named “Black Dolphin.” It is just way too funny how she comes up with things on her own! Speaking of things she came up with….She likes to play the “Knock Knock” game. So, I say “Knock Knock” and knock on the closed door that she is behind and she says “Who’s there?” and I reply with whatever goofy name I can come up with or maybe even “Daddy” at which time she …Read more […..]
1st Day of Preschool, I Love You Daddy, Florida Vacation–Chaos!
We recently had Emma’s preschool open house. It was cool to go see her school and be able to check out all the things that are there. Emma really liked the cars that they have and played with the cash register–ka-ching! We met her teacher again who is very nice, I think Emma likes her! That is a relief! I still can’t help feeling nervous about her starting preschool even if it is only a couple half days a week. My philosophy is let a kid enjoy being a kid as I remember many fond memories of playing with toys and using my imagination, etc… It seems there are way too many parents–One uppers– …Read more […..]
Tips for Stay At Home Dads
Excellent tips that I can definitely relate to and recommend! Child-care experts – and stay-at-home dad Chuck Shepard – offer the following tips to jobless fathers who are taking care of the children: •Talk about their frustrations with family or friends, said Aaron Rochlen, a psychology professor at University of Texas at Austin. If possible, do part-time work or an occasional project to feel satisfied professionally. •Isolation “encourages the sitting-on-the-couch- and-letting-things-drift period,” said Jeremy Adam Smith, author of The Daddy Shift. At-home dads …Read more […..]
Being a Stay-at-Home Dad is Just Fine … Except for That Feeling of Isolation
I completely agree with the feeling of isolation! It is hard to explain and I am not even sure that stay at home moms would understand how strong this feeling is with men..Maybe? I have heard from Moms that they feel the same sometimes but I truly doubt that it is as intense in women as it is in men–in general…. Instead of sitting in traffic for a long drive to his office in Concord on a recent Monday, Chuck Hammond sat at his kitchen table in Roseville, cutting the rind off little pieces of orange and feeding them to his 1-year-old daughter, Reagan. These days, Hammond works full time …Read more […..]
Women Are Wired Differently
This is an article reprinted from another blog, http://simplefather.com, that “validates” my feeling that women and men are naturally different(in general)in respect to children, etc… This guy works full-time and his wife stays home with their two daughters but after a day with the girls he realizes what stay at home parents go through everyday, every week, every month, every year…. Although it has been a blessing, I have struggled to maintain my manly “lion in a cage” feeling during the last few years while staying home with my little beauty Emma. I had the pleasure of watching the girls …Read more […..]
Mom Charged With Killing Own Toddler
Is there a punishment good enough for this sick, evil woman? I think maybe she should get what she gave…. LANCASTER, Calif. WISCONSIN: Baby dead in day-care van
Need I Say More?? Although the vast majority of daycare agencies are trustworthy, you never really know the person who you place your child with. MILWAUKEE — A 4-month-old boy was found dead in a day-care center’s van Thursday and its driver was arrested, police said. The baby may have been left in the Bumble Bee Day Care Center van for about four hours before he was found Thursday afternoon, police spokeswoman Anne Schwartz said. How the baby died was not immediately known; the temperature in the area was in the 50s at the time. Schwartz says the van’s 44-year-old driver was arrested …Read more […..]
Relief is Here! Nap By Myself, B-day Party! Sneaking Bubble Gum, Why? Potty Power! Hex Girls, Holding a 3Yr Old Accountable??
It has been awhile but it has been busy around here… Emma had a new pal for the last couple weeks and I had a “vacation” during this time. Nonnie, my Mom, came and stayed with us. Boy, did Emma enjoy having her here…. Emma got to play dolls(with someone other than me all day), jump in her bouncy toy, play outside(a day or 2 since weather was bad), color, and run Nonnie ragged….. She got to take naps with her, and even took a nap all by herself a day or two–good one nonnie! She was proud and bragged about how she took a nap “all by myself!” Nonnie got Emma back on track …Read more […..]
