“Just Chillin Out” “I’m Your Daughter, I’m Your Daddy” “Oh My Gosh” “That’s a Good Idea” Gella is Here!”The Pleasure Is All Mine”
Some of the more memorable phrases that Emma has been using…. When I ask Emma what she is doing she now frequently says, “I’m Chillin Out.” She cracks me up, picking up all of our phrases. When I say to Emma, “You’re my daughter and I’m your Daddy” she repeats “I’m your daughter I’m your Daddy.” We have to work on this one…LOL When she is surprised, upset, or amazed, Emma will say, “Oh my gosh!” If we make a suggestion or tell her that we are going to do something, Emma frequently responds, “That’s a good idea.” Emma was very happy to see her cousin Gella(Angelica). Gella was here …Read more […..]
Uncle Jeff & Auntie Jo, Wake Up Daddy, Its Christmastime, Christmas Parties, Santa Was Here! Aminals
It has been about 5 months since Emma has seen my Uncle Jeff and his wife Jo. The last time she saw them she loved Jo but wouldn’t go by Jeff although she did start to play Peek with him from a distance. They came over and spent a nice evening with us recently. At first Emma was leery of Jeff and, of course, was immediately receptive to Jo. It didn’t take long however, for her to warm up to Jeff. At first, while Melissa & I talked with Jeff, Emma kidnapped Jo and took her into the living room to play. After awhile we all ended up in the same room at which time Emma kidnapped …Read more […..]
Brushing Teeth/Washing Hands, “Loved Ones†Too Busy for Emma?! Halloween & Leaves!
Emma has been brushing her teeth by herself for quite a while now. It started out with her just eating the toothpaste because it tastes so good. It has evolved to where she really scrubs the bottom teeth–hasn’t perfected the top teeth yet. She has been encouraged by me stating that she needs to “get the germs off her teeth.” It seems that even though she doesn’t really know what germs are and hasn’t seen them she doesn’t want them on her. This works for her letting us wash her face and hands too. During the last month or so–after observing her cousins Chrissy & Megan– she has been standing …Read more […..]
More Opinions of Stay at Home Dads,I Love You, Temper Temper, Hi, Smarty Pants
Recently I came across some differing opinions/reactions to my status as a stay at home dad. As I have explained before, many men have funny, negative, or weird reactions when they hear that I stay at home with Emma. The older guys think it is pretty strange as they grew up in a different time. That is understandable but still a bit aggravating. The younger guys are a mixed bag. The majority of the ones that have children tell me that I am extremely lucky to stay home with her–I totally agree– and they wish that they could do the same. The younger guys without kids, in general, haven’t …Read more […..]
TV Commercial Filming Trip, You’re Not Going Away, Emma’s 1st Sleepover
A week after getting back from Disney World we went to Los Angeles. It was something we could not pass up–at least I couldn’t. Since my days as a child model for Spiegel, Sears, and others, I have had an itch to do something like that again. Last year, both Melissa and I were in a Sleep Number Bed commercial. A few weeks ago they contacted us and said that everyone remembers us and that they would like to fly us to California to shoot an infomercial. Well, we jumped at the chance… Emma & Walter (Foo-Foo) To be treated like a celebrity for a day was quite the experience. When we …Read more […..]
Megan & Chrissy! The Witch! Tigger & Pooh! My Name!
So, we just returned from our 2nd trip to Orlando and Disney World. We got to stay with Emma’s uncle Mark, aunt Tina, and her cousins Chrissy and Megan. It was a very fun time watching Emma with her 2 cousins. They played well together, in general. There were some pushing incidents throughout the trip with a sort of power struggle going on. Nothing serious but we got to see a “bully” side of Emma that I have never seen before. When we got home, Emma kept talking about them and how she wants to go back to “Mark’s house.” We had lots of fun at Disney World…again. Emma got to see “The Witch” …Read more […..]
Late Night Dancing Queen! PooPeeDoo!! Party, Party!
Last night we were at a wedding reception and Emma was a dancing machine! She was with all the familiar relatives and was passed around among all the women and girls…. She also picked out some women that she never met to dance with her. She sat with Italian women that spoke very little English and saw her favorite, Jella. We didn’t leave until 12. Since she didn’t eat much–she never eats much at parties– she requested chicken while we were driving. Since McD’s was closed we went to BK and they have chicken fries, Emma’s favorite! She ate on the way home and didn’t get to sleep until 1am. …Read more […..]
Play with Kids! Drive the Orange Car!
Emma has started to really like to play with the kids at the mall. She loves running laps for awhile before crawling through the tunnel, standing on the butterfly, and going in the red boat. Her favorite thing to do is to sit in the yellow car. She likes to steer the wheel and bounce(Bunce) on the seat. She gets along with the kids very well and “Plays nice.”
Horsies, Sleepover with Taylor, The “Scooterâ€, I Can Walk! NC Vacation Pics
The other day i brought Emma to my sister Kimmy’s place to pick up Nonnie. Emma was excited to go there because she knew her cousin Taylor, age 5, would be there. Emma got to see their 9 pet bunnies (buddies) and also the 3 horses that they have on their property. Emma likes riding her little rocking horses and likes to see horses on TV. Boy did she like to see them in person! She even got to pet them! The big Momma horse even did some horse talk for us. Emma got a bonus when my cousin Diane came by with her daughter Adell (Dell). The 3 girls went walking in the mud and went in the stable …Read more […..]
Caged Lion Reappears, Sleep?, High Heels, Why? OK! Peanut Butter!
I have written about the feeling that I sometimes get while being home with Emma. It has nothing to do with Emma and is absolutely all about me. I have called the feeling that of a caged lion. Well, that cat was back last week in a bad way. I am not sure if mothers who stay at home get this feeling. I am not sure if it is because I have always worked, done my own thing, got married at age 35, had freedom, or whatever but I know it is something I have had to deal with the last couple years. This feeling is one that is unsettling to say the least. I feel guilty feeling it because in some way …Read more […..]
